My Security + has expired I am looking at taking the latest SYO-501. Or this. Which should I do
Hi, Jack! It depends on how much hands-on cybersecurity experience you have. CASP is significantly more advanced than Security+ - we recommend a minimum of 10 years in IT and 5 years in cybersecurity before taking CASP. For Security+ on the other hand, we recommend 2 years in IT with a cybersecurity focus. We also offer CompTIA Cybersecurity Analyst (CySA+) and Cybersecurity PenTest+, which are intermediate cybersecurity certifications and are good for those with 3-4 years of hands-on cybersecurity experience. Choose the one that best fits your experience and career path. Good luck!

My husband has been having trouble passing the practice tests for Security+. Do you think he should save the money and just go ahead and get the CASP certification and skip Security+ altogether? Thanks - Nancy Siverling
Hi, Nancy! Thanks for your question. I'm not sure that's the best approach, as CASP is significantly more advanced than Security+. I would recommend continuing on with Security+ and working his way up. We recently released some new training products for Security+, including CertMaster Learn and CertMaster Labs. I'd recommend working through these and then trying another practice test to see how he does. Good luck! https://certification.comptia.org/training/by-certification/security
