Change or correct your name

You can change your name on your certification account by submitting a help request. Only your legal name should be used on your certification account – we do not include nicknames or abbreviations. However, if you have submitted a middle name or initial with your test provider, it will appear as part of your first name on your CompTIA certificate and ID card.

Capitalization errors in your name

If there’s a capitalization or spacing error in your name, simply send us a help request and advise us of the correct capitalization or spacing in your name.

If you need to correct the spelling of your name, please submit a help request and include the following information:

  • A complete copy of at least one exam score report; including all pages.
  • A copy of your legal identification showing the correct spelling of your name, such as a valid driver’s license or a valid passport.

Name change

If you need to change your name on your certification account, we are happy to update our records. Please submit a help request and include the following information:

  • A complete copy of at least one exam score report, including all pages.
  • A copy of your legal identification showing the correct spelling of your name, such as a valid driver’s license or a valid passport.
  • A copy of a legal name change document that reflects both your old and new name.

We will update our records free of charge. You can download a PDF copy from your account. In addition, you can order a printed copy of your updated certificate kit and wallet card for a replacement fee of $15.
