In response to the growing number of RFID mandates among businesses, and shortage of qualified RFID professionals, CompTIA organized the RFID Skills Certification Initiative in 2005. Leading organizations in RFID manufacturing and technical services sectors joined together with CompTIA to identify, classify and publish skill standards for RFID professionals.The CompTIA RFID+ exam was released in the spring of 2006, and is the benchmark certification for professionals working with RFID technology.
