Currently Seeking CompTIA Network+ Item Development
May 12-16, 2008CompTIA Headquarters, Oakbrook Terrace, IL
CompTIA is currently seeking Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to provide assistance in the CompTIA Network+ Item Development Workshop. Item Development is the phase of exam development when the questions for the exam are written. The workshop is taking place on May 12-16, 2008 at our headquarters in Oakbrook Terrace, IL. This step is part of an ongoing development process that is necessary to ensure the validity of the exam. Assistance from SMEs is crucial to the relevance and quality of the program.
It is the on-the-job experience of SMEs that provides the CompTIA Network+ exam with the precise skills standards required to perform the job of a networking professional. SME participation provides validity to the certifications used by employers, consumers, IT and vertical industries, making them widely-recognized and a valued benchmark for candidates.
If you cannot agree to the terms noted below, please
do not submit a SME application at this time. CompTIA
may have a need for additional SME activities with
varying criteria at a later date.
Although CompTIA appreciates interest from the training
community, applications from trainers, authors or
individuals who can profit from or materially benefit
from knowledge of the CompTIA Network+ program content
are not eligible to participate as SMEs.
SMEs will be asked to:
- Attend a five-day workshop at CompTIA headquarters in Oakbrook Terrace, IL. The date of the workshop is May 12-16, 2008. For those SMEs traveling from outside the local area, Oakbrook Terrace is a western suburb of Chicago and is accessible from both O’Hare and Midway airports. Travel arrangements are the responsibility of the SME and will not be paid for or reimbursed by CompTIA.
- Participate with SME peers and CompTIA staff in writing and reviewing items associated with the technologies, knowledge sets and best practices for the ideal CompTIA Network+ certified professional. SMEs need to be able to work independently and in small groups. SMEs need to have strong writing skills and should be able to articulate thoughts in writing and in a verbal setting.
