Continuing Education Program

The CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Security+, CompTIA Storage+ and CompTIA Advanced Security Practitioner certifications are valid for three years from the date the individual is certified. The CompTIA Continuing Education (CE) Program has been designed to provide a variety of relevant and cost effective methods for keeping CompTIA certifications current.

Entry into the Continuing Education Program can only be attained by passing one of these exams.

Program Details

Successful completion of the CE Program requires that all the following terms are met on or before the CE Program expiration date:

  • Sign the Continuing Education Program Code of Ethics Policy on an annual basis
  • Upload all Continuing Education Unit (CEU) requirements associated with the selected program intent level
  • Pay the three-year CE maintenance fees associated with the selected program intent level

These requirements can be completed via the CompTIA Candidate Database.

Program Fees
Individuals who hold multiple CompTIA certifications only need to pay the annual fees and earn CEUs for their highest level certification.

Renewing Through CE Activities
Qualifying activities include completing training courses, attending industry events, work experience, and publishing relevant articles.

Renewing Through Achieving Other Certifications
Achieving these higher-level certifications will grant full credit for a CE certification renewal.

DoD Requirements
The U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) requires every CompTIA-certified IA workforce member to obtain a CompTIA CE credential as part of DoD 8570.01-M.
