CompTIA Storage+ Powered by SNIA is a vendor-neutral certification that validates the knowledge and skills required of IT storage professionals.
The CompTIA Storage+ Powered by SNIA certification exam covers the knowledge and skills required to configure basic networks to include archive, backup, and restoration technologies. Additionally, the successful candidate will be able to understand the fundamentals of business continuity, application workload, system integration, and storage/system administration, while performing basic troubleshooting on connectivity issues and referencing documentation.
The exam is targeted toward IT storage professionals with at least twelve months of experience. Though it is not required, CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+ or CompTIA Server+ certification is recommended.
The CompTIA Storage+ certification may be kept current through the CompTIA Continuing Education program.

Certification exam expiration notice
On January 15, 2016 the 5-year long partnership between CompTIA and SNIA to deliver the CompTIA Storage+, powered by SNIA, certification will end with the retirement of the SGO-001 exam.
CompTIA will not replace these exams. Therefore, anyone studying for these exams is encouraged to complete their studies and seek certification prior to the retirement date. Exam vouchers already purchased for these exams will be valid through January 15, 2016. Exam vouchers not used by the retirement date will expire and become void.
Anyone who has received the certification will remain CompTIA Storage+ certified, as the exam is retiring but the certification will stay valid.
Individuals interested in validating their skills in managing the datacenter are encouraged to pursue the CompTIA Server+ certification, while those pursuing roles in more niche roles such as storage administration are encouraged to pursue SNIA’s certification pathway.
