CompTIA CTP+

CTP+ Certification CompTIA Convergence Technologies Professional (CTP+) certification validates professional-level knowledge and skills to sell and service components of data, voice and multimedia convergence technologies.

The international, vendor-neutral certification proves competence in convergent technologies, including data networking, telephony networking and convergence networking. This replaces CompTIA Convergence+ as CompTIA's convergent technologies exam.

CompTIA CTP+ covers an IT professional's understanding of requirements analysis, implementation and management of basic data components and voice and multimedia applications, as well as basic problem analysis and resolution for convergent technologies. There are no prerequisites for the CompTIA CTP+ certification exam, although it is recommended that candidates are CompTIA Network+ certified or have equivalent knowledge, as well as 18 to 24 months of work experience in areas that include data networking, telephony and other convergence-related technologies.

Candidate job roles include server technician, system or network administrator, Internet systems administrator and field support technician. The exam certifies the professional-level knowledge required by equipment manufacturers, their channel partners and end-users in three domains essential to the industry: Data and Internet protocol (IP) networking, voice and telephone services and convergence networking.

I like designing ways to let the right people in and keep the wrong people out. The work now is very different than when I started; it's a lot more about server security than safes and CCTV. But with CompTIA A+ behind me, I know I've got the skills and employers can see that too.
